Annual Team Service – 30th June 2013
On Sunday 30th June the four Anglican churches in Hitchin and the churches in St Paul’s Walden and Preston joined together for an open air service at St Paul’s Walden Bury. This is an annual event which is usually held in the St Mary’s Tent at the Rhythmns of the World Festival. However, due to the Festival not happening this year we were invited out to St Paul’s Walden Bury, to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the house and gardens.
As the sun shone down on us people gathered from all the churches, bringing rugs and chairs to take up their position on the lawn. The choirs and music groups from the six churches joined forces to lead us in music and song. Revd Ian Todd led the service and Revd Jane Mainwaring preached.

All the churches were represented through people leading the Bible readings or intercessions and Revd Michael Roden provided the children with their own, age appropriate teaching time, as well as some songs and games.
At the end of the service, people were invited to stay and have a picnic and to take the opportunity to explore the vast grounds.
