Christmas might be a little bit different this year, but we’re still planning to bring you a Christmas filled with comfort and joy. Some of the services on the flyer below might be a bit new or a bit different from what you’re used to if you’ve joined us for Christmas before…so keep scrolling for extra info…
COVID UPDATE: At the moment we still plan to hold our Blue Christmas, Nearly Midnight Mass, and Christmas Day services.
Our Advent Adventure trail will be on a much-reduced scale (sadly!), BUT will still take place with some QR codes around the church grounds and a nativity scene in the church porch. It will be there for you to visit at your leisure from Wednesday 1pm until Thursday evening, and you can still pick up a pack for making a Christingle at our 4pm Christmas eve Zoom service (we also deliver the packs: contact firstname.lastname@example.org)
Zoom Nativity service – 20th December 10am
This year our All Age Service will transform into the Zoom Nativity service. We are VERY excited to bring our children, young people, and families together to tell the Christmas story – all by the magic of zoom and some amazing work from Rachel and Pippa coordinating the production. We would love to open our (virtual!) doors to your family and friends who may also want to come to our nativity service, particularly if you would normally be together in person for this service. If you’re on our mailing list, you’ll get the Zoom codes automatically, but for safeguarding purposes, we just ask that you let us know who else to expect when admitting people into zoom, by dropping Maggie a short email at email@example.com
The Advent Adventure – 23rd and 24th December 1-4 pm
Although we can’t do our usual crib service this year, we CAN make use of our outdoor space to share the comfort and joy of Christmas, and even give you an early Christmas gift! Why don’t you come along and try out our (Covid -secure) Advent Adventure around the grounds of St Mark’s church? You will need to follow a trail, watch some video clip clues, find the resources to go into your Advent gift packs, and visit our nativity scene. You can also leave a prayer with our Angels of Hope and make a present to leave at our crib, just like the wise men did. The adventure trail will be open from 1 pm – 4 pm on both the 23rd and 24th of December.
Advent Adventure zoom service – 24th December 6 pm
We have one final activity to do and we would love to do it together with you. We will hold a short zoom service at 6pm on Christmas eve to use the resources you find on the Advent Adventure trail and build something together. I wonder if you can guess what it is? We know that our Crib services have traditionally been a time for you to gather with your extended family at St Mark’s, so we would love you to invite your family and friends to this short service – for safeguarding purposes, we just ask that you let us know who else to expect when admitting people into zoom by dropping Maggie a short email in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org
