As a church family we were able to celebrate this year’s Harvest on 4th October. Harvest is a time to give thanks to God for all the gifts he has given to us, not only from the Harvest in our own country, but from across the world also. As part of our thanksgiving the church was decorated by our flower team and by the Pastoral and Bereavement Groups. As ever, they did a wonderful job making the bricks and mortar of the church building come to life by bringing in the fruits of creation from outside. In our Harvest Festival we acknowlede the source of all that we have as God, and so as part of our thanksgiving we offer some of the Harvest back to God, in order to share it with others. Flowers, plants and fresh produce were given and distributed to individuals or households where practical support was needed or where people had faced difficult times and the gift of flowers were offered to cheer someone’s day. Tins and packets were donated for the longer term use at the North Herts Sanctuary. Money was also donated to this year’s Bishop’s Harvest Appeal supporting schools to disabled children in Uganda.
