Although most of the legal regulations around covid have now been removed, we want to reassure anyone thinking about coming to St Mark’s that we’re still taking your safety seriously.

We continue to have a 1m gap between rows, and you are welcome to place one of our ‘thank you for not sitting here’ signs on the chair next to you if you want a bit more space. We’re encouraging mask-wearing for now (but not requiring it), especially during the singing.

We’ve learned to make plans lightly, but for the time being, our pattern of services will be the following:

On 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month we will have a 10am Holy Communion Service in person and on Zoom, followed by outdoor tea & coffee (indoors if raining). Sunday School will be outdoors if possible (indoors if raining).

On 3rd Sundays of the month we’ll have an All Age service, either on Zoom or outside, followed by tea & coffee and then an 11.15 Simple Communion service (in person only).

On all Sundays apart from 3rd Sunday, we will have a quiet 8am Communion service.

Welcome to St Marks! We are a vibrant and growing Church of England family with members from across the generations. We welcome all people of all backgrounds and ages. We are here for everyone, whether you are a long-standing church member or someone who is just starting to think about faith.  Although we have a particular concern for the areas of Bearton and Westmill we have many members from further afield.

We love to welcome people into St Mark’s to celebrate those special times in life, such as baptisms (christenings), or weddings.  You’ll find more details about these services under About Us.  We can also host funerals, and you are welcome to contact us about that.

At St Mark’s we take the wellbeing of all our church family and our wider community very seriously.  As part of this we are vigilant in our care and dealings with matters of safeguarding.  Our policies on Safeguarding and contact details for our Safeguarding Officer, Pauline Banks, can be found under About Us.

We are proud to be members of Churches Together in Hitchin, and of the Team of Hitchin, and we are one small part of the great big Christian family that worships and loves all around the world!
