St Mark’s Cake Sale

The day was Saturday 12 March, the time 7.00 am and the weather slightly misty but on the whole a very pleasant morning. My husband Ivan drove me to the Hitchin market place with a car full of goodies to sell. There I met up with friends Joy, Linda and Val and we set up the Cake Stall ready for customers. GADRA Update – Lent 2016

A wonderful timely  update from GADRA, the focus of last year’s Lent appeal: “Greetings to all at St Marks. GADRA’s year got off to the best possible start, with the news that 109 of the members of the Class of 2015 had obtained Bachelor level passes. In addition, the school had very high overall pass rates, with only 2 individuals (out of the total class of 169) failing to obtain their National Senior Certificate. Lent Appeal – 2016

Rapid Response Fund for refugees arriving on Greek Islands Last September, the sight of the body of a small refugee child washed up on a beach sent shock waves round the world and there were urgent appeals for help. Among those who responded was the Anglican mission agency Us (formerly the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel) which used its Rapid Response Fund to send money to Christian organisations on Greek islands.
