Following the installation of the long awaited cross on the Bedford Road boundary of the church just before Christmas, we were able to dedicate the cross on Sunday 2nd February. An earlier attempt to dedicate the cross had to be abandoned due to wet weather, but the sun shone for us on 2nd February allowing the children to shovel the stones around the base of the cross to finish the whole project off, before the entire congregation made their way out of church during the final hymn. On Sunday 30th June the four Anglican churches in Hitchin and the churches in St Paul’s Walden and Preston joined together for an open air service at St Paul’s Walden Bury. This is an annual event which is usually held in the St Mary’s Tent at the Rhythmns of the World Festival. However, due to the Festival not happening this year we were invited out to St Paul’s Walden Bury, to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the house and gardens.
