Team Service at St Mary’s Church – Sunday 7th February

Published February 9, 2016 by admin in News

Our annual Team Service took a slightly different style this year. Gone was the normal accommodation of a circus tent to be replaced by the more traditional setting of St Mary’s Church. Gone was our normal summer date for joining together to be replaced by a wintery February day instead. This was all in aid of marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.

On the 7th February people from St Mark’s, St Mary’s, St Faith’s and Holy Saviour churches in Hitchin were joined by people from the churches in St Paul’s Walden and Preston. We came together to celebrate the beginning of a new team. After 5 years of informally working together, the Hitchin Team and the parish of St Paul’s Walden with Preston, became a United Benefice and a new Team of Hitchin and St Paul’s Walden with Preston. This means that although we still maintain our distinctive identities and characters, we are committed to working together and supporting one another.

The Bishop of St Albans, the Rt Revd Alan Smith, took the service and preached, commissioning and praying for the clergy, Readers, Church Wardens and congregations of the new team.

In this new chapter of our life together we look forward to seeing what God can do amongst us.
